Alma 9:26 Full of Patience…Quick to Hear

And not many days hence the Son of God shall come in his glory; and his glory shall be the glory of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace, equity, and truth, full of patience, mercy, and long-suffering, quick to hear the cries of his people and to answer their prayers.  (Alma 9:26)

This is a remarkable combination of qualities:
1. On the one hand, our Savior is full of patience and long-suffering toward us.  When we are slow to respond to Him, He waits for us — not indefinitely perhaps, but for a very long time.  He does not give up on us easily, and he is willing to forgive our unresponsiveness and gladly welcome us when we are ready to accept his invitations and commandments.
2. On the other hand, He is quick to answer us when we reach out to Him.  This does not always mean that we receive the answer we want when we want it, but it does mean that He will give us every blessing He can just as quickly as He can give it without disrupting other blessings and growth opportunities that we need.
How can we emulate this pair of attributes?  By being quick to respond to others when they are in need but patient when they are not responding to us and to our needs.
