Quick to Hear…and to Answer – Alma 9:26

26 And not many days hence the Son of God shall come in his glory; and his glory shall be the glory of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace, equity, and truth, full of patience, mercy, and long-suffering, quick to hear the cries of his people and to answer their prayers.

This description of the Savior includes many qualities which are worthy of emulation. Today, I am particularly drawn to the last one: “quick to hear the cries of his people and to answer their prayers.”
I wonder how often I fall short of this standard? Do my children have to ask for help multiple times before I disengage from my current activity and pay attention to them? Do my friends and coworkers have to say the same thing on several occasions before I can open my mind to their message? Does the Lord have to send inspiration to me repeatedly in different ways before I act upon it?
Today, I will work on being selfless and respectful of others throughout the day. I will make an effort to be a better listener and to be more responsive to the needs of others and to the whisperings of the Spirit.
