25 Now, if it had not been for the plan of redemption, which was laid from the foundation of the world, there could have been no resurrection of the dead; but there was a plan of redemption laid, which shall bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, of which has been spoken.
In this verse, Alma testifies to the people of Ammonihah that our Heavenly Father’s plan of redemption for us “was laid from the foundation of the world.” In other words, the plan has been in place for the entire history of the earth. Ammon, Aaron, Abinadi, King Benjamin, Nephi, Jacob, and the Savior Himself all testified that God established the plan of salvation before He created the earth (Alma 18:39, Alma 22:13, Mosiah 15:19, Mosiah 4:6, 1 Nephi 10:18, 2 Nephi 9:18, 3 Nephi 1:14).
In a world where so many events seem chaotic and unscripted, I’m grateful to know that God’s plan for us came first, and that He sent us to earth in the context of that plan. When we exercise faith in Jesus Christ and repent of our sins, we receive blessings which were prepared for us long before we were born (Ether 4:14).
