In His Strength I Can Do All Things – Alma 26:12

12 Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.

In practice, faith in God looks a lot like self-confidence. When we have faith in God, we not only believe that He can do great things, we also believe that we can do great things with His help. As Nephi said to his brothers who doubted he could build a ship:

If God had commanded me to do all things I could do them. If he should command me that I should say unto this water, be thou earth, it should be earth; and if I should say it, it would be done (1 Nephi 17:50).

In the passage above, Ammon, who has just been accused of boasting, clarifies to his brothers that his confidence is not in himself alone. “I am nothing,” he says. “As to my strength I am weak.” But then he expresses his faith in God, “for in his strength I can do all things.”
Today, I will remember that I can do anything with the help of the Lord. I will let my faith in Him give me confidence to act, and instead of doubting or second-guessing my own abilities, I will move forward with confidence in Him.
